Château Haut-Monplaisir - Prestige Cahors (2016)
Cahors, France
About the wine
Cuvée Prestige embodies the richness of Cahors Malbec. Black as at night, a powerful and rich nose, marked by a host of aromas, some more bewitching than the others: a coulis of ripe black fruit, sweet pastry spices and fresh butter, pepper and bay leaf, a hint of smoke… In the mouth it is round and soft, lively and generous, with silky tannins of beautiful structure, followed by a long finish and delicately scented by spices.
"This wine from the Fournié family is made from organically grown grapes. Its powerful structure, impressively fine tannins and black fruits are coming together in a wine that has density and spicy, perfumed concentration. It will age further, so drink from 2021." 93 points - Wine Enthusiast
"Blackberries, lemon leaves, bark, amber and spice-box on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with firm, mellowed tannins and a focused, savory palate. Well balanced. From organically grown grapes." 91 points - James Suckling
Pairs well with beef, venison, and poultry
