Colterenzio (Schreckbichl) - St. Magdelener Alto Adige (2022)
Italy / Trentino-Aldo Adige
About the wine
Colterenzio Schreckbichl is a winery in the Südtirol region of Alto Aldige, where northern Italy meets Austria. Twenty-six wine growers, seeking independence from the local wine merchants, formed their own cooperative in Südtirol (Aldo Adige) in 1960. They named their new winery for their home village of Schreckbichl (Colterenzio in Italian). Early leader Luis Raifer brought new quality standards to the winery, lowering yields to provide better quality grapes for higher quality wines. The co-op has now grown to 300 members with an increased focus on sustainability and organic farming practices.
This easy-drinking spring and summertime red is a blend of 95% Shiava (Vernastch in German) and 5% Lagrein, fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged for four months in concrete.
Lush flavors of cherry and strawberry are accented by notes of black & white pepper, hints of spice with some red plum, red pepper and pleasant savoriness.
Pairs well with Charcuterie/Cheese, Pizza, Pasta, Chicken, and Turkey.
The Colterenzio (Schreckbichl) - St. Magdelener Alto Adige (2022) wine is currently part of the Weekend Staycay | Mixed-Hue Wine Collection offered exclusively by WyneTyme.
