Tenuta Cocci Grifoni - "San Basso" Rosso Piceno Superiore (2021)
Rosso Piceno, Marche, Italy
About the wine
Born from the Marche region, Tenuta Cocci Grifoni's vineyards are located on hills at an altitude between 230 and 250 metres above sea level, with a south-west exposure that guarantees optimal sunshine. The soils here are clayey and contribute to giving the wines a robust structure and extraordinary aromatic complexity.
Beautiful ruby red color with garnet reflections of good brightness and consistency. Great olfactory intensity with a dominant of ripe red fruit with jams of wild strawberries, cherries and plums. Balsamic and spicy notes of clove, vanilla, leather, licorice root. Strong entry in the mouth, structured, warm, soft with a nice tannin in evidence. Elegant and evolved, fine, savory and harmonious. The finish is long and pleasant both to the taste and in the after-nasal way with references of licorice.
"San Basso reveals itself to be enveloping and complex. On the nose, intense notes of sour cherries in spirit and violets emerge, enriched by fresh nuances of rosemary. In the mouth, it is harmonious and well-balanced, with silky tannins and a freshness that makes every sip satisfying. The fruity and floral notes blend elegantly, giving a long and pleasant finish." - winemaker's notes
Pairs well with Beef, Veal, Venison, Duck, Ragù-Driven Pastas, and Mature Cheeses.
